A successful SAPF AV Annual was held on Sat. Nov. 5 2011 with 40+ people attending, for some, their first AV Exhibition. We received an increased number of entries from 20 to 24 audio visuals by 13 entrants, the varied programme provided an entertaining night.
The AV sequences covered an interesting array of stories & photographs ranging from Aberfan, South Wales to Lake Bonney Barmera. The audience were taken to places in & around Robe, Berri, Flinders Ranges, Milton N.S.W. & even overseas to New Zealand & Spain. We even received a sequence with a humorous theme, considered a difficult section in AV circles.
This year we received three novice audio visual sequences from two entrants. Congratulations for entering, your contributions were a welcome addition to the programme. The A.V. Club of South Australia will encourage anyone looking to be involved in the making of audio visuals.
Neil Gray (Director SAPF AV Annual) opened the Exhibition thanking the entrants for their contributions. Charles Hulse was introduced as the judge for the exhibition. After viewing & judging all 24 sequences it was time to present the awards.
Charles announced the following awards & place getters.
Music, Poetry or Song Section:
- 1st Place for “Murray Magic” John Hodgson
- Runner up for “Botanical Architecture” Neil Gray
Open Section:
- 1st place for “Spirit of Place” Anne Emmett
- Runner up for “My Valley” Carol Packwood
- Novice Award & Acceptance for “Creative Montage” Andy Smylie
The standard of entries were extremely high with quite a number of acceptances awarded too. Congratulations to all, hope to see your work again next year.
As mentioned earlier, the night promised entertainment, and that it did. Most, if not all were enjoying socialising & discussing “their” favourite audio visuals over tea, coffee & supper that included the raffle draw, thank you all for your support.
Thanks to all involved, entrants, judge, SAPF, attendees & helpers, the 2011 SAPF AV Annual was a very successful event. Hope to see you next year.
