SAPF Golden Anniversary Celebrations

This year is an historic year for the South Australian Photographic Federation as February 1st 2012, marked the golden anniversary of our governing body. On that date in 1962, the late Doug Mullins chaired a meeting of club representatives and founded the SAPF.

To celebrate this 50th year milestone a special retrospective exhibition from the permanent collections of both the Adelaide Camera Club and SAPF will be held in the Drill Hall, Torrens Parade Ground, Adelaide and open daily from May 15th to May 26th from 10 am to 4 pm.

Admission is $5 with $4 concession. Adequate parking is onsite [could not be better].
The exhibition will also be part of ‘History Month’, an annual event conducted by History S.A. throughout South Australia.

After advice from History SA the committee decided to expand the exhibition to cover 100 years of amateur photography in this State – an undertaking that has never been done before. This initiative has resulted in the following title: DARKROOM TO DIGITAL – 100 YEARS OF S.A. PHOTOGRAPHY

We have targeted the time span from the first State Exhibition in 1901 [SA Photographic Society] until the SAPF Annual Exhibition in 2011.

Also on display will be a selection of unique examples from the invention of the photocopier [circa 1960’s] hailed as one of the best Australian inventions for 100 years under Defence Science. One of the co-inventors, Alwin Clements, was a former president of SAPF. Today the Federation holds the best selection of works from this technology, which gained over 40 world patents.

Celebrating 50 Years of the S. A. P. F.

Mr. John Hodgson, EFIAP, FAPS, Hon. FAPS, Patron of the South Australian Photographic Federation inc. has kindly agreed to officiate for the opening of this exhibition at 2.00pm on Wednesday May 16, 2012.

The Venue is the Drill Hall, Torrens Parade Ground, Adelaide. Car parking is available on the Parade Ground – corner of King William Street and Victoria Drive – enter off Victoria Drive.

Please wear your club I.D. badge for free admission from 1.00pm onwards for Wednesday May 16 only.

A reminder that the exhibition is open to the public from Tuesday May 15 until Saturday May 26 – 10.00am – 4.00pm.

Interclub between Edwardstown Photography Club and Eastern Suburbs Camera Club

The interclub competition held on May 1, 2012 between the Edwardstown Photography Club (EPC) and the Eastern Suburbs Camera Club (ESCC) was won by ESCC. There was a great turn out from both clubs and some high quality photos kept Judge Alberto Giurelli busy. Congratulations to the Eastern Suburbs Camera Club on their win!

Light on the Land workshop – May 2012

The South Australian Photographic Federation is supporting a continuing series of photographic workshops aimed at the beginner to skilled amateur photographer. The next of these workshops will be held on Saturday 26 May 2012, whilst there is also a week-long workshop in the Flinders Ranges later in the year.

A one day workshop will be conducted on Saturday May 26 2012. Information is available from this link.

SAPF Annual Exhibition 2012

Entry forms are now available from club secretaries, or may be downloaded here: 2012 SAPF Annual Entry Form

Entry is open to all members of photography clubs affiliated with the South Australian Photographic Federation. There are sections in Colour Prints, Monochrome Prints, and Projected (Digital) Images.

The closing date is 1st June, 2012.

SAPF AGM 23rd March 2012

The next Delegates meeting and AGM of the SAPF will be held on Friday 23rd March 2012 at the Glandore Community Centre, in the Rugby Room. The room will be open from 7.30 pm and the meeting will start at 8.00 pm. Click on the image below to see a larger version.

Clubs which are affiliated with the SAPF may send up to 2 Delegates to the meeting. Clubs are also invited to nominate members to the SAPF Management Committee positions. The Management Committee has been operating below capacity for a few years and would like to fill all vacancies this year, in order to provide more services to the clubs.

Nominations may be made on this AGM Nomination form, which can then be posted to the Secretary before the 23rd March, or handed in on the night.
